The Expansive Selection Of Black Wheels: Learn All Of Your Possible Choices

by Ben Pate

It's true - black chrome wheels on a car definitely make that car stand out! But there are different shades of "black" available - such as flat, glossy and hyper. So, which one should you choose? Well, here's a short summary of the three different shades, a few ideas of what type of car looks good with them, and some very general information on prices.

Glossy Black - A color that is very standout, shiny and sleek, this shade goes nicely on just about any vehicle - as long as the paint job is nice. While this is definitely for the guy who is into making his car "showy", he would do best to stay away from it if he just wants to "hide" in with the general population.

You could put glossy black wheels and rims on a newer hybrid car, and this would make it appear a bit sportier than what was normally intended. In fact, these rims with bright red or yellow paint job, would definitely give your car that sleek new "toy car" look. Another type of automobile that would look great with these color rims is any two-door sedan model, especially if it's painted silver.

These babies aren't cheap. If you're looking at the brand new ones - and depending upon the size you need - be prepared to pay as much as your monthly car payment for the smaller rims, and look to fork over a house payment-sized amount for those cars that most of us will never be able to afford.

Flat Black - Here you have a shade with no "emotion" whatsoever in its make up. It's a color that's definitely understated, and some might even say dull. It is usually found on those military vehicles that are never welcome in the driveway - unless the driver is lost and only pulled up to ask for directions.

This type of black color is often noticed on those cars that used to be family compact cars, but found their way to the race track. The owners of these cars usually pair these rims up with a car done over in the same color of black, or an equally "serious" color. This product isn't quite as expensive as its glossy counterpart - but almost. You can find them new online, starting at around $400 for the basic rim - and, depending on what brand and size you need, it goes up from there.

Hyper Black - These are rims that are actually a chrome color in which a distant cousin of the black shade is made to gleam through. The end result is a look that's subtle and understated - yet expensive-looking, as well. Cars that look really nice with these rims on are those such as the mini "gangster-type" type car. New, they start out around two hundred dollar per set, and go up from there.

When you're looking for black tires and rims, don't forget to include the online auction houses in your search. Sometimes you can find sets of wheel tire packages in whatever shade you want for about seven hundred per set, as they include tires. And if that's a bargain that's still too much for you, then you may be able to find the same thing in the "gently" used category, for hundreds of dollars less than this.
